Dermaray UV is a hand held ultraviolet light for treatment of the symptoms of Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Dermatitis and other skin conditions
About Ultraviolet Light Treatment
Clinical Trials over many, many years have proven that Narrow Band Ultraviolet Light is effective in treating skin conditions such as Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Dermatitis and Acne.
One of the most prevalent and persistent skin conditions is Psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious autoimmune disease which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. UVB has been used to treat psoriasis for more than 75 years, initially in combination with crude coal tar, and later as monotherapy. UVB has been the phototherapy of choice for psoriasis since it was found to be less carcinogenic than PUVA (psoralen plus ultraviolet A phototherapy), and since the development in the late 1980s of a highly efficacious UVB lamp, termed "narrow band UVB".
UVB lamps are lamps that emit a spectrum of ultraviolet light of 290-320 nanometers. In general the skin does not need much of the UVB energy to generate Vitamin D3, and few minutes in a day are enough. Patients taking a course of UVB treatment usually attend their local Dermatology Clinic three times each week for eight to 10 weeks. In many cases this leads to complete or almost complete clearance of the disease.
The Dermaray Brand.
Dermaray is the registered brand name for what we believe to be the future in innovative and safe personal phototherapy devices. Over the last 11 years of selling established phototherapy devices, TCG Industrial has gained a solid understanding of the market, and the limitations of existing hand held, portable devices. The Directors saw a need for a product which was technically advanced in terms of its functionality, incorporated important safety features, and was reliable. They believed they could use their experience and design a range of pedigree phototherapy devices. In 2002, TCG Industrial began the design and development of the Dermaray product range.
In 2002 TCG Industrial began the design and development of the first Australian-made, portable ultraviolet narrow band device. TCG's Head Hardware Developer has solid design and development skills in both the Medical Industry (personally designed and developed TENs machines) and Information Technology (telecommunications technology for Australia's largest carriers).
2009 saw the successful completion of the Dermaray UV, which is now available to customers worldwide, and incorporates a wealth of unique and powerful features.
